Well, I Never, in All of my Days…Ever had a Man That Would Treat Me This Way
…The one who ain’t beating down my door, is the only one who’s got me walking the floor...* My friend and I made a whole video to this song quite a few years ago. We wore men’s dress shirts and acted it out. Of course, none of this was done sober and, now, I’d give anything to find it, lol. Maybe some things, though, are best left hidden! Anyway, at the time, we were both involved with guys who were having a good time playing the field while we were seriously interested in getting their attention. I’d like to say we learned a lot from that song and the video re-creation but, really, I don’t think we did. It’s just human nature to want what you don’t have. This week’s cartoon series is about advice for the lovesick. I guess anyone can give advice, but no one is gonna take it. Nope. Because people know what to do in any given situation. They just don’t want to, me included. It’s the age old story, told to me by an old friend last week, who, after a zillion years, finds herself back in the game. She has a huge crush on a guy and is in full pursuit mode. Full pursuit mode is never good. If someone is going all out to pursuit you, well, you don’t have to do too much, do you? You don’t have to call or text or wonder if they’re interested, so, basically, you do nothing. And this doing nothing, well, it just creates more interest. Everybody knows this but, wow, it’s hard to stop this cycle, isn’t it? I tell her this very thing. Just stop, step back, give him space. He will wonder where you’ve gone. Or maybe he won’t. Either way, it’s gotta be better than checking your phone every few minutes to see if he’s bothered responding this time. She doesn’t wanna play games, she says. It’s not the challenge, she says, and I just look at her and shake my head. Cat and mouse. It’s a fun game to play. Fun, but painful. So, if you’re doing that, try to be the mouse. I mean, at least give it a shot. And put down that phone!
…I got jewels from a prince, well the least I’ve ever gotten was a box of mints but from you, I ain’t got nothing but the blues……
