Hugs On Hold

Have you had your first social gathering since the big quarantine? You know, where you sit outside, six feet apart and try to remember how to converse in person? To remember that you can’t edit your comments now, no backing up and deleting what you say. Sometimes, I wish you could actually do that. Go back and unsay things? Is that a word? I spend a lot of time wondering that; if it’s a real word, the correct word, and if it’s spelled correctly. Yep. Spellcheck won’t save you if you’re choosing between their, there and they’re. Nope. But, I digress. Be careful with your words. Once they’re out there, they can only be forgiven, not forgotten. Sometimes, neither. Anyway, it’s weird to see people and not hug them, not touch them. You’re either a hugger or you aren’t. Have you ever hugged one of those people who aren’t huggers? They’re stiff and awkward and kind of just pat you on the back and untangle themselves. Hug those people anyway. One of Chase’s friends is the best hugger ever. I strive to be one of those people. Hugs, they say, are good for you except, apparently, during an epidemic. So, for now, you non-huggers have a brief respite but, soon, you’re going down. Yep. Mark my words.
